For my Florida State Seminole fans who have always wondered where the "Tomahawk Chop" originated, the questioned has been answered! Wallace "Wally" S. Odom passed away in 2014 where he has been given the title of its originator since he began using it in the 1980's. He was born in 1938 and prior to his passing he was the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Finance Affairs for the Escambia County School District. He was a graduate of Florida State University where he earned a BS degree in accounting in 1963. He then moved to Pensacola where he worked as an accountant for the City of Pensacola before moving on to an accounting position with the Escambia County School District. But his greatest passion was Seminole football, a passion he carried to his grave in St. John's Cemetery.
