Claude Cleveland Corrigan was born in 1884 in Colorado and came to Pensacola in 1931. Before his arrival, he had been a clerk for the Wells Fargo Company as well as an accountant for the Nevada Copper Company. He and his wife were living at 114 West Chase Street when for whatever reason he took offense with the pay and thankless appreciation of Pensacola's finest in blue! He wrote a lengthy article that was published on July 19, 1943 about the low pay and dangerous work that our officers were called upon to do to serve and protect the citizens of our Gulf Coast community. Its interesting to note the parallel between the pay of our officers then and what the receive now and how little things have actually changed. He also too umbrage at how the city's elected officials treated them as well. Sadly, Claude passed away in 1944 but you can't say the man didn't try!
