Thousands of Pensacolians each year dine at one of our most iconic restaurants in the Pensacola area. But prior to this landmark diner, there was another landmark that used to rest on this same property. This was the old St. Katherine Episcopal Church (below in 1910) located on the northwest corner of 6th Avenue and Cervantes Street where the “Coffee Cup” now stands today. The old church was built in 1885 and its last pastor was the good Reverend Eldred C. Simpkins. Early one morning in 1935, the wrecking crews showed up and before anyone realized it the old church was gone and is now only a memory to a dwindling few.
