On or about March 31, 1929 the New York Yankees played the Pensacola Fliers in a baseball game as part of their Spring training program. The game was held at the Fliers home field called "Legion Field" located at Gregory Street at "G" Street. Even the famous Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig played in the game even though Babe hit three home runs but chose to not run the bases. To nobody's surprise the Yankees beat Pensacola's home team 12-2. The below photos were taken from the Pensacola News Journal coverage of the game in 1929.
