Cary Carlson Ward Sr., US Navy Hospital Corpsman (known as Pharmacist Mate in WWII) stationed with the 3rd Marine Division, 12th Marines on Guadalcanal 1943 preparing for the invasion of Bougainville on November 1, 1943. This is the area known as the "Coconut Grove" next to Henderson Field. Cary Ward is sitting 2nd from right and was a member of the Pensacola High School Class of 1943. USN Victor Kyle sitting 3rd from right. Cary passed away on March 7, 2013 and was buried in Barrancas National Cemetery.
